iDecide

About us

The Digital Advance Directive Association aims to raise awareness of advance care planning so that more people record their treatment wishes. To this end, it provides iDecide free of charge.

Advance directives – a project for society

  1. Starting point

Just under a quarter of the population has completed an advance directive (Pro Senectute Switzerland, gfs-zürich survey 2022). This creates uncertainty in patient-centred medical care.

  2. Willingness

Yet most people think about the end of their life and consider an advance directive very worthwhile in principle. So how can we reach people better?

  3. Barriers

Easy access to advance care planning can lower the barrier to engaging with advance directives.

  4. Appeal

For people to actually take this step, the benefits must clearly outweigh the effort. That is why the advantages of creating an advance directive need to be shown more clearly.

Our mission

  1. So that your wishes count, even if you can no longer express them.

  2. Advance care planning for everyone: simple, free and in your language.

  3. We make it easy to begin: think it over, talk about it, write it down.

How iDecide came about

iDecide was created in the research group of Prof. Dr med. Steffen Eychmüller, Professor of Palliative Care at the University of Bern, based on the FMH advance directive. Over four cycles, we developed, tested and refined the app together with users and professionals. In doing so, we aligned it with the existing guiding concepts of the national advance care planning working group.
